I think you may be thinking of Denis Arwen. He was their angelic and
let's face it, just a little bit sexy, Irish left back who was
sensationally suspended from the '99 Cup final because that dastardly
ringwraith Elleray was operating under Sauron's orders.
Fortunately, as we all know, good eventually triumphed over evil when
Frodo Gunnar Solskjaer and the ever dependable young Sam Sheringham
disposed of the ball that would rule them all in the fires of Mt Nou
Camp, and Denis, for his reward, was allowed to hang about in
Manchestershire for another couple of seasons before being fed to the
wolves.
