Is it possible he never wanted to win the league in the first place, just
the ball, and this is why he got sacked? I remember an interview with DoL
from about a month ago, where he outlined Leeds' aspirations for the coming
season.

"A lot has been made of winning the league in recent years, how this club or
that club keeps winning it, how another club has no chance of winning it,
and how there are clubs who _might_ win it, but probably won't. Etc Etc.
Last year, we were one of the latter.

"After a while, you get fed up of hearing about 'the League'. Its not
everything, you know. This year I'll be happy if, come May, Leeds United FC
have at least got _the ball_. We're going to go out there, and _win_ the
ball. And if we lose the ball, we'll win it back again.

"That's what Leeds United Football Club is all about. That's what the fans
expect, and that's what I intend to give them. It's the least I can do.

"At the same time, though, it's the most I can do. Take it or leave it."
