A classic example of too much too young. Rich Hunter was offered, and
signed, a 5 year contract as UKSF looked to sign up it's best talent.
Then the agents came in. 5 grand a week was no longer enough. Demands
came through for parity with the more established players and eventually
an ultimatum, "Pay me more or I go!"

Unable and unwilling to match the demands for 50k a week, and use of a
lease step ladder, Hunter was sold on to an Italian group. His initial
problems with the language proved to be difficult for him and injury to
his typing finger in a pre season friendly meant that his Italian career
never really took off.

Consigned to a lower Italian group to obtain 'experience' he started
hitting the bottle too hard. When he realised it would be more
beneficial to drink out of it than hit it his problems really started.
Depression and Vimto is a deadly combination. Vimto on it's own is bad
enough.

It's a salutary lesson to all out there.

Nick.
